This version of The Snow Goose Song dates from 2013. In 2020, I arranged it for SATB choir and orchestra, and it became the fourth and final song (along with three other newly-composed movements) in my choral cycle for SATB choir, solo soprano, and small orchestra, entitled Winter Legends. A version for SATB and piano of The Snow Goose Song is also available.

The Snow Goose Song imagines a world in which children of the north draw a stylised figure, on misty windows, of a goose in flight, on her way to rescue the sun from the realms of the dead in darkest winter. She secures his release but dies in the process, and her wings become snow and her heart beats forever in the northern lights.

This version can be performed with just soprano and piano, but it's better with the chorus.
